Bearpath scores GIII Pan American Stakes

Lothenbach Stables’ Bearpath won his first stakes with a 3/4 length victory over Never on Sunday in the GIII Pan American Stakes at Gulfstream on March 27th, 2010. The Dynaformer gelding out of Song n’ Silk (Unbridled’s Song) went off unnoticed at 19-1 in the field of nine marathoners going 1 1/2 miles on the turf.

With jockey Frederic Lenclud in the stirrups, Bearpath was never far from the pace before pulling away just inside the eighth. Bringing his winnings up to $184,630, this is the fourth win for the four year-old gelding.

Chesapeake Farm is excited to cheer Bearpath on as he gears up for the GII Elkhorn Stakes at Keeneland on April 23rd.

Madame Blackfoot produces her second foal on February 8th, 2010.

Madame Blackfoot produced the full brother to her maiden foal when she delivered this striking bay colt on February 8th, 2010. The seven year old Black Minnaloushe mare is a two time winner on the turf.

By Powerscourt, the only horse to ever finish first to the wire in two consecutive Arlington Millions (GI), this will surely be a colt to watch as a juvenile. Powerscourt currently stands at Coolmore Ireland.

Both mare and foal are healthy after an uncomplicated foaling. Madame Blackfoot’s breeding plan for the 2010 season is undetermined.

This striking bay colt by Bluegrass Cat was delivered on February 5th, 2010. Out of the Slew o’ Gold mare Slewveau, this colt joins into a long family of winners, including MGSW Mayo On The Side. The upset winner of the GI Humana Distaff over Horse of the Year Azeri, as well as the Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland, her earnings topped $640,000 by the end of her career. Slewveau is also the dam of stakes placed Bring Home Thegold (3rd Lafayette H) and multiple winner Hemisphere Dancer.

By Bluegrass Cat, the GI winning millionaire by Storm Cat who’s yearlings sold for upwards of $500,000, this colt will surely be one to look for in the ring next fall.

Both mare and foal are healthy after an uneventful foaling. Slewveau’s breeding plans for the 2010 season are undetermined.

Glorious Rahy delivers Chestnut Filly by Eddington on February 3rd, 2010.

Glorious Rahy produced this attractive chestnut filly early in the evening of February 3rd, 2010. The Rahy mare is a half sister to MGSW Mr. Bluebird, winner of the GII Red Smith H. and the GIII Knickerbocker H. This is the third foal for the seven year old mare.

By Eddington, the MGSW millionaire by Unbridled, this racey filly’s pedigree traces back to a line of champions. Standing at Claiborne Farm in Lexington, KY, his yearlings have sold for up to $370,000 in 2009.

Both mare and foal are healthy after an uneventful foaling. Glorious Rahy is booked to Pleasantly Perfect for the 2010 season.

Half sister to G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup winner Vacare born on February 2, 2010

Multiple graded stakes winning producer Appealing Storm delivered this striking bay filly during the late hours of February 2nd, 2010. The dam of Vacare, winner of the GI Queen Elizabeth II Cup, GII First Lake S, and GIII Pucker Up S, as well as GIII Pin Oak Valley View stakes winning Single Solution, this is the ninth foal for the Valid Appeal mare.

By Bernardini, the leading freshman stallion of the sales in 2009 with an average of $364,000, this filly is sure to turn heads in the ring next summer.

Office Party delivers first foal of the season on January 24th, 2010

January 24th brought the first foal of the 2010 season for Chesapeake Farm as Office Party delivered this striking bay filly by Run Away and Hide. This is the third foal for the seven year-old unraced Brahms mare out of Office Politics (Secretariat).

This foal also takes the prize for being the first offspring of the season for freshman sire Run Away and Hide who stands at Darby Dan Farm. Unbeaten in three starts at the age of two, the multiple graded stakes winner is also the holder of the stakes record for the Saratoga Special (G2).

Both mare and foal are healthy after an uneventful foaling and Office Party is booked to top freshman juvenile sire of 2009 Offlee Wild for the 2010 breeding season.

Chesapeake Farm’s Marilyn’s Guy heads home for second straight victory at Hawthorne on December 23rd, 3009

Chesapeake Farm’s own Marilyn’s Guy won his second straight at Hawthorne on December 23rd, 2009. Racing for the first time with blinkers, the grey Yonaguska gelding out of Chesapeake Farm owned Marilyn Merlot took down the field by a staggering margin of seven lengths on the dirt.

Coming off of a win on November 22nd also at Hawthorne, the Chris Block trained three year old ran three wide from the fifth before making a steady advance and pulling away from his opponents.

Chesapeake has catalogued six fillies and four colts for the upcoming fourteen day sale in Lexington, Kentucky, running from September 14th - 27th. Including some of the top young sires at the time, such as Smart Strike, Speightstown, and Rock Hard Ten, Chesapeake Farm also offers the sister to multiple graded stakes winner Mayo on the Side, a Bluegrass Cat filly out of the Slew o’ Gold mare Slewveau as the first to enter the sales ring for our consignment. Sainttwok produces attractive bay filly by During on May 15th, 2009.

On May 15th, 2009 Sainttwok produced another attractive foal when she delivered this dark bay filly by During. The Saint Ballado mare is a daughter of the Wild Again mare, Day Rate, and a multiple winner of almost $200,000. This will be the sixth foal for the eleven year old mare.

By During, who’s yearlings have sold for up to $115,000 in recent sales, this filly should be one to watch in a year.

Black Magic Lady produces bay filly by Offlee Wild on May 10th, 2009.

On May 10th, 2009 Chesapeake resident Black Magic Lady produced this striking bay filly by Offlee Wild. This will be the second foal for the Smoke Glacken mare out of Faminazi.

Both mare and foal are healthy after an uneventful foaling. Black Magic Lady is scheduled to be bred to Bellamy Road for the 2009 season.
